Moore was given the title of lieu-'. tenant colonel when he took command of the Air Force auxiliary, which is headquartered at Lantana Airport.

His squadron consists of pilots, observers and qualified support personnel who provide air emergency services, such as searching for lost or downed aircraft. Moore, who holds Federal Aviation Authority ratings for instru-; ment instructor and air transport pilot, volunteers his time to teach squadron members how to fly and shares his aviation expertise, which comes from flying during World War II, the Korean War and in Viet-: nam. 'T: A year after he graduated from Worth High School in 1941, Moore had already taken his first Tsolo flight. He was assigned to fly with the 100th Bomber Group, acting as commander when his crew flew in mass raids from bases in England. During a raid against oil refineries in Czechoslovakia, Moore's plane was hit by enemy fire, forcing him to parachute.

While jumping, his plane exploded and caught fire to his parachute. Moore recovered from burns and multiple fractures in a Czech hospital, only to become a prisoner of war in Germany. After his release in April 1945, and fulfilling his tour of duties in Korea and Vietnam, Moore ended his 25-year career in the Air Force with peacetime assignments. He was subsequently employed for more than two years by RCA in California as an engineer and general manager. Since his retirement, Moore has flown charters and given private flying lessons.
