THE PALM BEACH POST SUNDAY, JULY 2, 1995 5B IN LOVE AND REMEMBERANCE OF Martin jail open to workers' families again In Loving Memory -Mary Ruth Veraneault -May 19, 1920-Jul2, 1994 You've been gone 1 year and so badly missed by all your family and fiends. We love you always, Your Husband Leo; Daughters Ruth, Joyce, Carol, Linda and -son Al, family friends mmmmm, 1 'If our deputies are out there finding bodies without knowing about their own relatives, they cannot effectively do their Martin County Sheriff ROBERT CROWDER rt said. In the days before Andrew hit Homestead, Ivy said his officers worked 12-hour shifts, with 12 hours off. After Andrew, many employees worked nonstop for several days and had to be ordered to return to the 12-hour shifts, which continued for four months, he said. Stuart police officers' families may take refuge in a special shelter set up for relatives of all city employees at St.

Joseph's Catholic Church, police information officer Vicki Justi said. "We tell (the officers) they're no good to us here unless they have everything set up for their families," she said. St. Lucie County sheriffs information officer Mark Weinberg said the St. Lucie Correctional Center isn't large enough to accommodate families of employees, but employees are instructed to take their families to public shelters or evacuate the area.

"What we do have is a plan advising anyone working here that their first obligation is to make sure their family is safe," he said. individualized custom dentures are your specifications with your and comfort our utmost goal mm PAT MOORE Palm Beach Post Staff Writer STUART Inmates and corrections officers won't be the only Occupants of the Martin County Jail should a hurricane take aim at the Treasure Coast this summer. The wives, husbands and children of sheriffs office employees also may ride out the storm inside the two-story concrete jail turned makeshift hurricane shelter, Sheriff Robert Crowder said. "One of the things we learned from the folks who went through Hurricane Andrew was that, especially after the storm, if our people don't know the well-being of their own family, they can't concentrate on what they're supposed to do," Crowder said. "If our deputies are out there finding bodies without knowing about their own relatives, they cannot effectively do their duties," he said.
