in on PALM BEACH POST THURSDAY, JUNE 19, 2003 MSL AREA DEATHS Martin County Jerry Bowers 73, Stuart Mr. Bowers, a Stuart resident since 1968, died Tuesday. He served in the Army and worked at The Miami Herald and The Fort Pierce News Tribune. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 1976. His first wife, June, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Camille; two daughters, including Patricia Houston of Stuart; two sons; brother; two sisters; and three grandchildren. Visitation 3 to 5 p.m., including a 4:30 p.m. service, DONALD L. ARNOLD 1925 2003 Donald Arnold, 78, a resident of Tequesta, passed away May 29, 2003 under Hospice care comfortably at his home with his wife, Cindy. A native of Auburn, Illinois, he was born May 5, 1925.

He was Vice-President of Corporate Relations for Meredith Corporation of Des Moines, Iowa, from 1968 until his retirement in June of 1990. He was formerly a partner in the Chicago law firm of Vedder, Price, Kaufman Kammholz. During World War II, Don served with the U.S. Army Infantry in Europe. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the 379th Infantry, where he was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, twice.

A graduate of the University of Illinois, he received a Juris Doctor degree from De Paul University in Chicago in 1950. He learned to fly in his 40's, was an avid golfer, loved to travel, and to sing; especially at the local pub, McCarthy's in Tequesta. He was always particularly happy near, or on, the water, making his retirement home on Jupiter Island and a member of the JIB Yacht Club Marina a perfect spot. He owned the red tug boat, fondly named for his granddaughter, the "Ashley He is survived by his wife, Cindy, of Tequesta, and his sister, La Verna Segin, of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean, with whom he had one daughter, Suzanne of Phoenix, Arizona; two sons: Mark of St.

Louis, Missouri, and Scott of Gresham, Oregon; as well as three grandchildren: Matthew, David and Ashley. A memorial service with full military honors was held in the park across the street from his home on June 4, followed by a "Celebration of his Life" reception. "Lucky" WILLIAM CHINNERS, Jr. Age 60, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away after a brief illness on June 18, 2003.

He is survived by his mother, Doris K. Chinners; his wife, Lena; two daughters: Casey (Michael), and Kelly (Benjamin); his sister, Cherise (John); and many aunts, uncles, family members, and close friends. We will miss you. JEANINE DEFEE www.dignitymemorialpalmbeach.com DOROTHY DEVENDORF Jeanine DeFee went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 13, 2003. Jeanine was born September 9, 1964 in Lake Worth, FL and received her GED from the Palm Beach County School System. She received additional training in home health care and nursing assistance. Jeanine was employed with Nurse Finders, MEGA and Hospitals Without Walls, She devoted her life to caring for the elderly and disabled. She also lovingly and professionally cared for her grandmother, Lula May Swann; and uncle, Dan Swann preceding their deaths.

Jeanine was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister, cousin and friend. She was loved by all who knew her. Many people in Palm Beach County have benefited from her efforts. She is survived by her daughters: Melissa Camp and Adriana Cuenca; brother, James Littrell; sister, Tracy DeFee; uncles: Grady Swann and George Bieri; and aunts: Debbie Swann Bieri, Galen Swann and Glenda Swann. Jeanine also had many cousins who loved and valued her.

She was a blessing to all whose lives she touched, spending much of her time in prayer for others. She is survived by two sisters, a brother, and three nieces.

DONAHUE Born May 15, 1926 in New York City, died peacefully at his home in Palm Beach, FL on the 18th of June surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Donahue was the son of the late Colonel Mrs. Alphonsus J. Donahue of Stamford, CT. He is survived by his wife, Marion Casey Donahue, eight children, T.P.

Sheila Potter of Charleston, SC. Marion Bevan of London, England, Margo de Peyster of Palm Beach, FL, Madeleine Kingzett of London, England and nine grandchildren. Mr. Donahue is also survived by his brother A.J. Donahue, Jr.

of Stuart, FL and Norwalk, CT and his sister Jacqueline Brett of Scottsdale, AZ. Mr. Donahue served in WWII and was a graduate of Georgetown University in 1948. Mr. Donahue retired from his family business in 1968 and pursued his lifelong interest in thoroughbred horse racing by establishing a stud farm in Ireland.

Horses carrying the Donahue silks raced in Ireland, England, France and the U.S. His filly Sutton Place won the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot in England in 1978. Anticipating the potential of the Irish film industry, Mr. Donahue also founded the independent film company, Tara Productions, in Dublin and produced such films as 'The Cry of the written by Frederick Forsyth. Mr.

Donahue returned to the United States in 1982 and retired to Litchfield, CT and Palm Beach, FL. Mr. Donahue was a member of the Irish Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George. He tirelessly supported the Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem, a maternity hospital founded in the Holy Land by the French Daughters of Charity in 1892. Over the last decade, Mr.

Donahue has devoted his energies to spreading God's word through the production and distribution of the homilies of Rev. Father Leo Clifford, OFM. though the Eternal Word Television Network. He was a parishioner at St. Edwards Church in Palm Beach and a member of the Everglades Club and Jr.

the Saratoga Reading Rooms. An avid golfer, Mr. Donahue was known in golfing circles as or "World's Greatest Putter. Mr. Donahue was a loving husband to his wife Marion for 55 years.

He was an inspiration and source of love and to encouragement his children and grandchildren. His family was the core of his life. He departed this earth with no worldly regrets. As he said several weeks before his death, 'Who has had more fun or a better time in this world than me?" Saturday at FUNERAL NOTICES ROBERT "Bob" HOWARD ELLIOTT Age 59, of Okeechobee, died Monday, June 16, 2003 at JFK Medical Center Aflantis, Florida. Born September 3, 1943 in Norway, Maine. Mr. Elliott had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1988. He served in the U.S.

Army and retired after working 34 years with Pratt Whitney Corporation. The journey he lived is one in a million to remember. As a loving husband and father, he left his family with many wonderful memories. Never forgotten, he will be present for future cherishable moments in mind and in spirit he will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Goffe, 84, passed away Saturday, June 14, after an extended illness. Mr. Goffe survived by his wife, Camille; daughters: Michelle and Jerri; and a large extended family throughout Florida and the United States. He was predeceased by his son, Brian. Mr.

Goffe, a Florida native, was born on February 27, 1919 in McCall, Florida. He grew up in southwest Florida and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 25, 1936. With his enlistment, he began a long and eventful career including a variety of duties during World War II. He participated in multiple assault landings with the 22nd Marines in the Marshall Islands, as well as a 1945 46 tour of duty at Tientsin, China, with the 1st Marine Division. His subsequent duties included escort of World War dead, staff on the Leatherneck Magazine, and assignments with the MarDet aboard the USS Des Moines and the USS Baltimore.

Following the war, he also servied at 8th and Washington, DC, and Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington, DC. He retired from active duty on disability in 1960, and was permanently retired on January 1, 1965. Mr. Goffe returned to Florida after his retirement, residing in Lake Worth. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and shared this passion through his work as a hunting and fishing guide.

He practice exemplary environmental measures for the preservation and renewal of wildlife in Florida. In this way, he contributed to the enjoyment of this resouce for future generations. The service to commemorate Mr. Goffe's life be held Saturday, June 21, at Tillman Funeral Home, 2170 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, Florida.

SHERMAN M. ROBBINS died suddenly June 18 at his home in Palm Beach Gardens. He was 57 years old. He is survived by his wife, Mary Gottlieb Robbins; his son, Scott Robbins and daughter-in-law, Christine Robbins; his daughter, Stephanie Robbins Antone and son-in-law, Tom Antone; his stepchildren: Brian Gottlieb and his wife, Jenny; and Jeffrey Gottlieb and his wife, Elizabeth Hunt; and his sister, Francine Craven, and her three children. Mr.

Robbins joined Palm Beach Media Group as editor-in-chief in 1996, and served as editorial director of the company's 10 publications. During his previous six years in South Florida, he served as editor-in-chief of BRIEF, an international business magazine, and worked as a freelance investigative reporter specializing in economic crimes and consumer protection. Mr. Robbins has won numerous writing awards, and was named 1999 Editor of the Year by the Florida Magazine Association. In his more than 30 years in the communications business, Mr.

Robbins also has been a marketing and media executive, and has served on the journalism faculties of Central Michigan and Long Island universities. He was the marketing manager of Citibank's New York State commercial banking division and Citicorp's asset-based subsidiaries before becoming vice president and account supervisor in charge of Citibank's worldwide advertising at Foote Cone Belding. In 1979, he founded Robbins Ries, a New York-based communications holding company, which included two broadcasting subsidiaries and a full-service 4A's agency. Mr. Robbins' editorial vision and contagious enthusiasm for the publishing business had a Editor-In-Chief of Palm Beach Media Group, profound impact on Palm Beach Media Group, which experienced significant growth during his seven-year tenure.

His charismatic personality and respect for those he encountered over the course of his remarkable life serves as an inspiration to each of his countless friends and family members. GREENE, Sr. Emmett A. Groover, age 72, passed away June 18, 2003 at JFK Medical Center after an extended illness. Emmett, a lifelong resident of Florida, was born in Lake Worth on March 28, 1931 and was a graduate of Palm Beach High Class of 1948. Parker, and May (Tom) Ritter; and brother, Julian Groover. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Robert Groover.
